By Secretary Christopher Bowman
March 15, 2022

Shortly before 1:30pm units were alerted for a vehicle fire on I-70 westbound near Watersville Rd. Further calls upgraded the assignment to a vehicle accident with reports of vehicles on fire and occupants trapped. E41 RE4 and P45 responded along with units from HCDFRS (Glenwood) and West Friendship. E41 arrived to find multiple vehicles involved with 6 total patients. Aviation was requested for multiple serious patients along with additional transport units from Carroll and Frederick counties. MSP Trooper 3 and Park Police Eagle 1 transported 2 patients each to area trauma centers while the remaining patients were transported to other local hospitals. Crews operated for over an hour before turning the scene over to MSP.

Just before 2pm, while operating on the I-70 accident, calls were received for a house fire in the 900 block of Long Corner Rd in Mt. Airy. Neighboring departments were alerted including Mt. Airy, Damascus, and New Market. Carroll CF1 arrived first and found fire showing from the roof of a two-story home. In addition to the mutual aid departments Lisbon responded with TNK17, WS42, U4, and CF4B. Crews were able to place the fire under control in about 25 minutes. Crews remained on scene for over 4 hours before turning the scene over to the Office of the Fire Marshall. No residents were in the house at the time of the fire.

Today highlighted the importance of support from our mutual aid departments and the dedication of volunteers in our department and our neighbors. We are always looking for new members to join us, click the link below to download our application and email us at joinus@lisbonvfc.org.
