| On 3-29-07 at 23:56 Rescue alarm 4-1 was alerted for the m.v.c. with unknown injuries, with P-45 and E-43 due. P-45 and E-43 arrived on scene and updated this incident to a P.I. with entrapment. This brought BC-2, EMS-2, a request for Trooper 8, and an additional engine for the landing site.
A single pick up truck had hit a guard rail, traveled over the guard rail, and then struck a tree on the drivers side of the truck. The impact left the lone occupant of the truck pinned by the dash which had collapsed onto him, and his legs had also became entangled in the gas and brake pedals.
E-43's crew stabilized the vehicle with the Res-Q-Jack stabilization system, they also pulled and charged an 1 3/4" attack line for protection, and began staging tools for the extrication.
P-45's crew made access to the patient and protected c-spine, confirmed the patient was conscious, and had a good airway, due to the dash being crushed onto the drivers lap, the extent of his injuries were not known until E-43 had removed the doors, roof, and pushed the dash off of the patient.
The patient had severe multi systems trauma, and was transported by Trooper 8 a priority 1 to S.T.C. |
