By EMS Sergeant Amanda Barnett
December 8, 2013

It is with a heavy heart that Lisbon VFC announces the retirement of Engine 43. The membership has decided to turn her over to Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company located in the Marklesburg Township, PA while completing the process of building a replacement pumper.

After serving as a Rescue-Engine for the past 13 years, she will be officially placed out of service on 12/9/2013 and over the next week, all equipment with the exception of basic tools will be removed. Marklesburg VFC will take ownership on 12/15/13.

Lisbon VFC has purchased the chassis of a replacement pumper and is in the process of "spec-ing" the cab, tank, and compartments that will be manufactured by Rosenbauer. Proceeds from the sale of Engine 43 will go towards the completion of the build.

In the meantime, Engine 42 will run front-line and will be equipped with several of the rescue tools that were removed from Engine 43. In addition, Engine 41 will continue to carry a combi tool.

There are many memories and stories involving Engine 43, and she will surely be missed! Merklesburg-- we hope you have as much fun with her as we did!

If you would like to contribute to the fund for the new engine, you may do so by designating "Engine 43" on your donation.
