| In the early morning of January 11th, 2013, units from Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company and multiple surrounding departments from Howard, Carroll, and Montgomery counties were alerted for the report of a house fire in the 3000 block of Florence Road.
Engine 41 and Ambulance 45 both responded with volunteer crews of five and two respectively. Engine 41 arrived on location to find a two story home with smoke showing from around the chimney and all occupants out of the residence. Companies then began to investigate the source of the smoke and found a chimney fire with extension into the attic.
Upon further investigation, Tower 3 (West Friendship) opened up the area on the roof directly around the chimney and found heavy smoke and embers pouring out of the opening. Crews from Engine 41 and Engine 132 (Glenwood) found heavy smoke conditions in the attic area and determined the source to be some material that had caught on fire directly around the chimney.
Units operated on the scene for approximately and hour and a half to two hours before going in service. Special thanks to all departments who assisted in operations to quickly and effectively extinguish the fire with minimal damage.
