In the early morning hours of January 23, 2010, Lisbon was dispatched for the personal injury accident with fire. Engine 43 and Engine 41 responded quickly to the scene on Florence Road just west of Route 94. Engine 43 was first on scene with a car well off. Engine 43's crew pulled an attack line, and quickly put a knock to the fire. With a few stubborn hot spots left, 43's crew noticed wires arcing on the power lines above and backed away and off of the road. The incident commander notified BGE and all the units waited for their arrival. While waiting, 43 and 41's crews attached more line to the existing attack line, sat in a nearby field, and continued to flow water onto the fire until BGE cut the power to the lines. Then, using a piercing nozzle, the fire in the trunk was quickly extinguished and the crews began searching for hot spots while two firefighters extinguished the pole to allow the BGE to work on it. Crews cleared the scene around 6:30 AM. A good job was done by all.
