Downtown Lisbon News Alert!

Santa Claus visits children at Lisbon UMC Day Care Center reminding them to keep this holiday season safe.

The Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company sent Santa Claus and his helpers to the Lisbon UMC Daycare center with some fire safety hints for the holiday season. Each child received a small gift bag along with a Fire Safety for the Season coloring book. Here are some of the important hints the children learned from Santa:

1. Always place a screen in front of your fire place.

2. Do not overload your electrical outlets

3. Always turn the lights off on your tree when you go to bed or you leave the house.

4. If your tree did not come in a box then remember to water your tree every day.

5. Be careful with candles; always have an adult light them for you.

6. Make sure your house number is visible to Santa and the Fire Dept. so they can find your house.

7. Make sure your chimney has been cleaned. Santa won't get to dirty and your chimney won't catch fire if you keep it clean.

8. Be careful when you light your Menorah. Have an adult help.

9. Never put flammable material near a fireplace. And never burn wrapping paper in your fireplace.

10. Have a working flashlight in a place that is easy to find, even in the dark.

The Lisbon UMC daycare center thanks Santa and his helpers for visiting us and we want to wish Santa and all his Lisbon VFC friends happy holidays and a safe new year!
