| On Monday, March 26 at 18:15 hrs. Box Alarm 4-11 was sounded for the barn fire at Watersville rd. and Old Frederick rd. Within five minutes E41 was on scene confirming a 100' x100' x 50' barn full of hay fully involved, and requested four additional large capacity tankers as well as Alleghany power due to live electric lines on the ground arcing.
Montgomery County Chief 17-5, was in the area and stopped to offer his assistance, Chief 17-5 assumed command which allowed the crew from 41 to deal with task of protecting the many exposure problems present at the farm.
As additional crews arrived, and a sustained water supply was established, the task of protecting exposures became a little easier, allowing us to expend the resources to extinguish some of the burning material which had fallen past the foundation.
There were close to 100 firefighters on scene, working for several hours to contain the blaze, which eventually was contained to the foundation and is being allowed to burn itself out.
This incident was a great example of the Brotherhood among firefighters, we had firefighters from four different counties, volunteer and career, male and female, all working together to protect a citizens property, and displaying true professionalism while performing their duties.
The Officers and members of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company would like to extend our appreciation for the hard work that everyone put into the incident. And we dont want to forget the Lisbon VFC. Auxiliary, and Canteen 1, who always take good care of us.
