| Shortly before 10:20am on Monday, October 26th, crews from Station 4 and surrounding stations were alerted for the report of a barn fire in the 16900 Block of Frederick Rd in Mt Airy (Poplar Springs). E41, TNK4, WS4, P45, and CF4 responded and arrived to find a barn well involved. E41’s crew made an initial attack to knock down the fire supplied by TNK4 until additional crews arrived to assist. WS4 responded to a nearby cistern to establish a tanker fill site, and RE4 set up an additional fill site at Station 4.
Crews operated for over 3 hours before returning to service, and have returned several times for hot spots. Howard County Highways was also called to assist with equipment this morning. Photos courtesy of members on scene. |
