Shortly before 4pm on Thursday July 2nd, units from Winfield and surrounding stations were alerted for a garage fire in the 5200 block of Braddock Rd. While responding, units reported a large column of smoke in the area and upon arrival, crews found a large garage with fire showing. The rapid intervention dispatch and tanker task force were requested bringing additional crews from Carroll, Howard, and Frederick counties to assist. E41, ET44, and WS42 responded on the initial assignment as the second due engine, second due tanker, and first due water source piece respectively. P45 responded as the ALS unit on the rapid intervention dispatch. E41’s crew assisted in fire attack, ET44 shuttled water with other tankers, and WS42 assisted with the rural water supply operations. Lisbon’s units operated for four and a half hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office.

We would like to thank Laytonsville for providing coverage in Lisbon while our units were committed to the fire. P135 from Glenwood also transferred to Lisbon to cover our area. Unless noted otherwise, photos are courtesy of Jacob Smith.
