| A livestock trailer extrication training was held Saturday 3/17. Brooke Vraney of Day's End Farm Horse Rescue, a horse behavior expert, instructed firefighters and EMT's on dangers associated with large animal-involved motor vehicle collision, rollover and rescue. Specifically, the information animal recuers would need to prepare for the response. Brooke also explained what fire personnel can expect when animal rescue arrives on scene and the benefit of working through a unified command structure to acheive the goal of personnel safety throughout the extrication and animal containment process. Fire personnel then proceeded to practice using rescue tools combined with safety practices as they "cut up" the livestock trailer. |
