As the community of Lisbon has undergone changes in the past 50 plus years, Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company has made many advances necessary to provide adequate fire and safety protection to the community. Today, as we continue to grow the need to expand or relocate has become inevitable.

The Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company has recently completed a feasibility study and schematic design, to determine the best avenue to continue to provide fire, rescue and EMS protection to the community of Lisbon and surrounding areas. A Planning Committee was appointed by the company in fall of 2002. The job of the committee was to evaluate the user needs of the company, additions and renovations to the current facility versus new construction. It was determined that the current property and facility owned by the company would not be able to meet our needs.

The company looked at various locations in the community that would be suitable for a new facility. None of the sites were able to suit the needs of the department. The owner of a property approached the fire company and offered to sell a parcel of land to the department in early 2009. The Planning Committee began looking into this property as a potential site for a new facility. Since that time there have been several meetings and conversations with local zoning, planning, development, engineering, and Maryland State Highway officials.

The officers and members of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary are proud to announce that after evaluating properties in the area, we have decided to purchase the parcel of land that was offered to us on the northwest corner of Woodbine Road and Frederick Road, to be used as the future site of a new facility. This is our first stage of realizing our new aspiration and dreams. As we move forward with this project we are committed in keeping the community informed and involved with the progress of your new Lisbon Volunteer Firehouse and Community Activity Hall.
