April 16, 2019

Just after 7 am on Tuesday, April 16th, units from Mt. Airy were alerted for a single vehicle accident with entrapment where a truck struck a tree in the 3800 Block of Mt Airy drive. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office arrived first and confirmed significant entrapment. After the arrival of fire department units aviation was requested to transport the patient to an area trauma center. E41 was alerted to setup a landing site for MSP Trooper 3 at the carnival grounds, but then diverted to the scene to land the helicopter closer. Command also requested an additional Rescue Squad and the Shock Trauma Go Team to assist with the extrication. Crews worked for over an hour to extricate the patient before transferring care to MSP Trooper 1 and the Go Team who transported to the hospital. The Carroll County Sheriff’s office is investigating the accident. Photos are courtesy of Lt. C. Harvey.
