At 13:00 (1:00PM,) Vehicle Alarm 70-65 was dispatched for a Motor Home on fire on Interstate 70 West bound, just west of Route 94. Engine 41 made a quick response with 3 followed by Rescue Engine 4 with 4. As units were getting on the interstate, Engine 41 advised he had a visual on 70 West. Engine 41 arrived with a fully involved RV and took a position to deploy the trash line of the engine while Rescue Engine 4 positioned to utilized the bumper line. Crews immediately went to work extinguishing the RV utilizing the CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System) on both units. This made quick work of the fire as well as the brush and trees that had caught on fire. Engine 131, Tanker 13 and Engine 42 all arrived and assisted in opening up the RV to make sure the fire was out. Due to the use of the CAFS, only about 750 of the total 6750 gallons of water on the scene had to be used to extinguish the fire.

As crews were wrapping up, a passing motorist advised personnel on the scene that a driver approximately 100 yards back, appeared to have a medical emergency and had driven off the road and into the guard rail. Command was advised of this and the Rescue Engine responded to that location. While responding to that accident, Howard advised command they were getting reports of another accident on Old Frederick Road in the area of Twin Arch road and an additional assignment was started.

Rescue Engine 4 arrived to find one vehicle in the median with a driver that appeared to have a medical emergency. Paramedic 45 arrived and took patient care from Rescue Engine 4.

Engines 131 and 41 responded to the vehicle accident on Old Frederick Road along with Carroll Rescue 1. Rescue 1 arrived to find a motorcycle down with the operator with very minor injuries. Carroll Paramedic 18 evaluated the patient and placed the assignment ready.
